Story Nook

Original name: Cantinho da Leitura

Aiming to encourage reading and awaken a passion for books in children and teens, the Story Nook social project renovates public spaces, creating welcoming, playful, and well-structured environments.

The areas—which can be public schools or municipal libraries—are either existing spaces that are completely renovated or the implementation of brand-new spaces. They are equipped with bookshelves, chairs, and tables to welcome the project’s beneficiaries.

The project also donates a literary collection of 1,200 books, including titles in Braille, educational games and toys, costumes, and a structure for puppet theaters and storytelling.

Beyond broadening horizons and stimulating creativity, contact with literature is fundamental for emotional and intellectual development, as it enhances linguistic skills, increasing vocabulary, textual comprehension, and the ability to express oneself, both orally and in writing.

The project has already been implemented in the cities of Mogi Mirim (SP), Contagem (MG), Feira de Santana (BA) and Sumaré (SP), benefiting thousands of children and teenagers.

Renovation or Implementation

The creation of a new space or the renovation may include replacing the floor, maintaining the electrical system, and painting the walls with designs created to immerse children in the magical world of literature.

Furniture

Delivery and installation of complete furniture to welcome beneficiaries, including chairs, tables, bean bags (puffs), and bookshelves.

Literary collection

Donation of 1,200 children’s and young adult books, including literary classics and titles in Braille, as well as toys, educational games, and equipment for puppet theater and storytelling.
