Donations were purchased with the organization's own resources and sent with the support of the company Rota Sul Transportes.
The Buddy Up social project, carried out by The Factory Association: Health, Sports, and Culture, sent one ton of dog and cat food last week to the Instituto Patinhas de Caxias, em Caxias do Sul (RS). The donations were made using the organization’s own resources.
Launched in Paulínia in February of this year, the Buddy Up project aims to assist animal protection NGOs and institutions in developing actions focused on the care of abandoned animals and responsible ownership. To encourage public engagement with the cause, events promoted by the project exchange tethered balloon flights for a donation of 5 kilograms (11 lbs) of high-quality pet food. The initiatives also feature animal adoption fairs and other activities.
“We chose the Instituto Patinhas de Caxias because we know the serious work developed by the organization. In this moment of such profound sadness, the Institute is doing everything it can to rescue and care for animals affected by the floods, not only in Caxias do Sul but also in neighboring cities”, states Bruno Wellington, president of A Fábrica and creator of the Buddy Up project.
The transport of the donations was carried out completely free of charge by the company Rota Sul Transportes. “We want, once again, to thank Rota Sul for making themselves available to deliver the donations at no cost. According to information from Agência Brasil, more than 11,000 animals—including wild animals and pets—were rescued from the floods. It’s time to join forces to help meet this important demand as well,”, reinforces Bruno.
Currently, A Fábrica has ongoing social projects in three cities in Rio Grande do Sul: Bento Gonçalves, Porto Alegre, and Montenegro.
